How to install Flash player 10 on Fedora 9 and Fedora 10
Short guide to install Flash player 10 on Fedora 9:
On 32-bit:
[edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ sudo rpm -ivhhttp://linuxdownload.adobe.com/adobe-release/adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm [edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ sudo rpm –import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-adobe-linux
[edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ mkdir -p /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins [edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ sudo yum install flash-plugin [edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ mozilla-plugin-config -i -g -v
On 64-bit:
[edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ sudo rpm -ivh http://linuxdownload.adobe.com/adobe-release/adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm [edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ sudo rpm –import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-adobe-linux[edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ mkdir -p /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins [edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ sudo yum install nspluginwrapper.{i386,x86_64} pulseaudio-lib.i386 [edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ sudo yum install flash-plugin [edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ mozilla-plugin-config -i -g -v
restart firefox and enjoy
tip: if you experience any problems with the sound, install alsa-plugins-pulseaudio, restart firefox and try again:
[edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ sudo yum install alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i386let me know how it goes…
i just do:
[edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ sudo rpm -ivh
http://linuxdownload.adobe.com/adobe-release/adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm
[edward@spoiltspace.co.uk ~]$ sudo yum install flash-plugin
and no libflashsupport anymore, enjoy!
I had already included the yum repository previously so the upgrade to flash 10 was as easy as running “yum update”. Unfortunately the browser would then segfault on start-up when loading the many previously loaded tabs. Nice.
Hmmmm…
Doesn’t yum automatically import the GPG keys ? o_O
See also http://macromedia.mplug.org/ , hint on installing curl.i386 helped me solve odd crashes on all .swfs (F8, x86_64).
Thanks, and I’ve install Adobe Flash Player 10 in my Fedora 9. Thanks
I guess that libflashsupport is not needed any more.
Thanks, works nice….
Thanks for the article. It took me a while to figure out why :
[root@localhost ~]# mozilla-plugin-config -i -g -v
would not work on 32 bit(?)
bash: mozilla-plugin-config: command not found
I had to:
[root@localhost ~]# sudo yum install nspluginwrapper.{i386,x86_64} pulseaudio-lib.i386
Now Flash Player 10 is installed and working fine.
Thanks from a newbie!
Just thought that i would let you guys know, that since fedora have release version 10… the following still works
sudo rpm -ivh http://linuxdownload.adobe.com/adobe-release/adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm
sudo yum install flash-plugin
Hope thats of some help to the people using Fedora 10
Works like a charm on Fedora 10! Thanks a million!
Thanks for all of this. I got it to work, and I’m rapt.
For native 64 bit support, just use the Flash 10 64 bit beta. Install is easier than waiting for Yum to figure out what the hell it wants to do, and it has worked flawlessly for me since I did the install. And on another note, no more wrapping your stuff in multiple layers of complexity.
You can find the .tar.gz file at the Adobe Labs site.
Thanks, it work on fedora 10.
Works perfectly on F10-x64.
Nice job and thanks.
Thanks for help. Good info for newbies….
peace.
Yep worked for me, had to install the alsa plugin for pulse but other than that, works perfect.
Thanks!
Fantastic!! thanks a lot myte.. works like a charm..
Thanks for the info! I’m bit of a n00b to linux – but so far I like it
Got stuck for a little bit because yum was reporting it was locked by another app etc etc… Figured out it must have been the automatic update it was doing :/
anyway, works a treat
It works on a fc10 ( toshiba u400-13k laptop ) . Thanks a lot.
$uname -a :
Linux tsasuhan 2.6.27.19-170.2.35.fc10.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Feb 23 13:00:23 EST 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
it kept requesting a sudo password, yet I don’t know what my sudo password is, what do I do?
@Adam: Enter your root (admin) pass and press enter
I am amazed with it. It is a good thing for my research. Thanks. ^_^

I followed your instructions and flash works but I get no sound. I did try the sudo yum install alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i386 command but still no sound. I am on 64 bit Fedora 10, can anyone help. I am completely new to Linux.
hm, try:
$ sudo yum install nspluginwrapper.{i386,x86_64} pulseaudio-lib.i386
$ sudo yum install flash-plugin
$ mozilla-plugin-config -i -g -v
should work fine… if not, try the 64bit version of flash…
The “tip” really saved me, thanks a lot!
Help! >__<
hello guys, i am really sorry to ask this silly question, but i am new in Linux, what is “sudo”
and why when i am trying to write the script that you are saying about it to download the flash player, always it is asking about the password for the user, and after i put the password it is saying the user is not in the “sudo”
so kindly if you can explain to me what is “sudo” and how can i add a user to “sudo”
thank you very much
